As the founder and creative force behind Royal Design Studio since 1991, Melanie Royals has shared her vast experience, original ideas and passion for paint and pattern through numerous television appearances, books, instructional videos, websites and workshops offered at the finest teaching studios throughout the country at at her San Diego studio.
Royals has helped to pioneer many looks and decorative treatments with stencils, paint and plasters that have become industry staples, such as free form stenciling, allover and embossed patterns and layered pattern. The author of Trompe L'oeil Murals Using Stencils, which sold over 30,000 copies, Melanie's second book, entitled Painted Illusions was released in September 2004 and features many of the Extraordinary Stenciled Effect Techniques that are unique to Melanie's ìsignature looks. She has appeared on numerous television shows, including Christopher Lowell, Kitty Bartholomew's Your Home and Our Place on HGTV.
