Deb has just the prescription for you, if you want a cute idea for some original bathroom wall art. Make your own vintage style apothecary bottles in a shadow box! In this stencil tutorial, she combines a variety of colors of our Royal Stencil Crème Paints and our Classic Damask Stencil to create a vintage look for this bathroom DIY project.
Deb walks us through an easy and inexpensive tutorial to create exotic wall décor using our Casablanca Trellis Moroccan Stencil. Because she incorporated so many of our Moroccan Stencils– our most popular stencil collection – we aren’t surprised it is one of Paint + Pattern’s top favorite DIY’s!
With the rise of the tribal trend, the lively geometric patterns of “mud cloth” have been showing up in pillows, seat cushions, throws and wall hangings. There’s a pulsating energy to the patterns that draws you to them and makes it hard to look away. Deb was happy to notice that our Tribal Vibe Allover Stencil looks much like mud cloth, and this DIY scarf tutorial was inspired by these African patterns.
Now, you may not live in Africa where you can see lions, giraffes and elephants from your front porch. Yeah, neither do we! But African & Tribal Pattern Stencils can bring a bit of safari feel to any room. See how Deb crafted this custom stenciled tribal lamp shade and base from pieces you can easily source from your local home goods store.
Spring and summer are the seasons for flea and farmers markets. And of course we need bags to carry our vintage finds, bundles of flowers and vegetables. What’s perfect for a summery tote bag? Otomi patterns in bright colors! And with that, you have a fun, festive and colorful tote bag ready for those summer shopping sprees. This DIY Otomi Tote bag makes for a thoughtful one-of-a-kind gift too. You can even paint with your gift recipient’s favorite color.
You can recreate the terra cotta look on any surface with paint. Deb shows you how to paint wall art on curved wood panels that are reminiscent of the curving terra cotta roof tiles in Italian villas. As a bonus, because terra cotta pots from Italy often have raised panels on them, she also explains how to create raised designs with Wood Icing and our Pompeii Border Stencil.
When Deb saw a rug with a pattern similar to chicken tracks from a designer rug company, it reminded her of our Chicken Stitch Border stencil, and inspiration struck. She decided to create her own DIY stenciled door mat on the cheap! The finished doormat adds a cute country farmhouse touch to the entryway, doesn’t it?
This conversation happens to the best of us: "Where are my keys?" "I don't know!" "I can't go anywhere till I find the keys!" Deb’s solution is to put keys in the same place, every time, just inside the door. A key tray is a perfect spot. It can also a thoughtful gift for your family's sanity and any absent-minded friends. So, why not decorate the key tray and make it pretty? Our Ankara Impression A Stencil and Sari Border Series Indian Furniture Stencil are used for this DIY craft project, but you can use any design that inspires you!
There might not be a way to paint with wine, unless you consider holding a brush in one hand and a glass in the other as "painting with wine." And if we were to try that, it's a sure bet that there's never enough coasters around for the wine glasses. So why not make some? It's easy to paint unique, stylish coasters, and they could make nice gifts too. For these, Deb used our Classic Fleur de Lis Stencils.
To get your creative stenciling juices flowing, why not make a stenciled mug for coffee or tea that is full of original of color and pattern? Deb loves her creatively stenciled coffee mugs, and finds them a colorful way to start her day. Because stenciled mugs are so easy to personalize with stenciled pattern and paint they are easy to match with your existing dinnerware. They would also make great hostess or birthday gifts, and may even be a fun stencil project to do with the kids. For this DIY craft project, Deb used our Ashley’s Autumn Heart Stencil and Classic Fleur de Lis Set 1.
This DIY craft project was a bit "outside the box", ha! Deb used a variety of our stencil designs - Marrakech Medallion Stencil, Jali Allover Indian Furniture Stencil, a border from the Sari Border Series Indian Furniture Stencil - and paint colors to create visually interest on these globally inspired gift boxes. She hopes this DIY project shows you how to be adventurous with mixing stencil patterns, even in a small space like a box.
