Rustic Chic design is all the rage and rightfully so -- it has both rough-hewn charm and a whole lotta style! Our friend Shannon from Canada's aka design blog has been a stenciling pro for a while and she frequently uses Royal Design Studio stencils for her fabulous home design and craft projects. We were tickled pink (and black and white!) when she used our Small Moorish Allover Stencil from the Allover Ethnic Stencils Collection for her latest redesign project!
Shannon and her husband Dean wanted the Rustic Chic style for their new bedroom with a color scheme of moody deep gray with splashes of sunny yellow. Sounds divine! They waited a bit before making any decor decisions and, of course, had a budget to consider. Once they started purchasing decor accents and new furniture pieces for inspiration, their decor plan started to take hold.
Shannon and Dean had used the Small Moorish Trellis Stencil for their original bedroom design and they loved the stencil pattern so much, they decided to re-use it for this new design scheme. That's one of the BIG advantages of using stencils -- they can be used over and over again on a variety of surfaces! For the feature wall to be stenciled, they chose a beautiful white over a dark latex paint for a lot of drama and pop. If choosing to go with a metallic, we recommend our Royal Stencil Cremes which glide smoothly and effortless over the stencil to give you a perfect finish every time. (They go a long way, too!)
We love their reclaimed wood headboard and accents like the bright yellow knobs on the furniture and patterned pillows! We think their bedroom looks A+ Stencil-icious and it's both bright and inviting while being tempered with a bit of moodiness and mystery. Exactly the balance Shannon and Dean wanted!
