Tam of Sew Dang Cute turned a standard brown rug from IKEA into a matching red and white doormat that complimented her valances for a custom dining room look.
First, she used a foam roller to apply the burgundy base coat to her rug's surface, then let it dry overnight. From there, Tam was able to line everything up with our Large Moorish Trellis Stencil's handy registration marks and began dabbing (rather than brushing) a small amount of white paint over her stencil pattern. Before she knew it, the rug was done! Tam said on her blog, "I was pleasantly surprised with how easy the stencil was to work with. It stayed in place, even with the unevenness of the rug's surface. Plus, with the registration marks it really was a breeze, and cleanup was a cinch."
Sara of Yummy Mummy Club painted our Royal Design Studio's Lisboa Tile Stencil on her dining room area rug in colors that will transition nicely all year round. Here it is pictured with light pastel table settings that are perfect for the spring, but it's almost snowflake design also would work with navy or silver place settings for a wintery look. Sara passed along this tip on her blog, "For a larger area rug like this, I suggest placing the first stencil in the centre of the rug. Measure it from every side and angle to make sure it is centred and straight, then tape in place."
Our friends at Uncommon Designs personalized their rug with a fun combination of our Chevron Furniture Stencil paired with our Japanese Garden B Stencil. This is a perfect example of how stencils provide a great way for you to express your personality in your living space!
