The summer sun is coming out and outdoor parties are in full swing! Is your patio ready? With just paint, stencils, and a fun-in-the-sun afternoon, you can spruce up your porch, patio, or outdoor furniture and leave your guests in awe. Here are 11 DIY projects that will inspire you to get outside and stencil:
Debbie Hayes added a pop of pattern to her deck with stenciled garden pots. This quick and easy outdoor DIY project uses Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan and our Moroccan Sun Flower Stencil. A great benefit of Chalk Paint® is that when used outdoors, it needs no sealer. Once the paint cures it will withstand sun and rain for many years while developing a lovely patina over time.
Do you have an old furniture piece that has seen better days? Before you decide to show it to the curb consider giving it an update with paint and pattern. Debbie wanted to revamp a rustic farm table that was weathered by a rough winter but still functional. She gave it a much needed facelift by stenciling our Arabesque Ornament Mini Craft Stencils on the table top to create a custom pattern. Now it’s the perfect spot for creating a pretty vignette of ferns, flowers, and statuary.
Debbie also decorated some flower pots to go on her stenciled table top. She used our Alhambra Ornament Craft Stencil, Royal Stencil Crème in Copper, and Modern Masters Metal Effects products to create the look of aged blue and green patina. This designer look is easy to replicate by following this DIY craft tutorial.
Debbie is also thrilled with how her stenciled outdoor bench turned out! She used our Peacock Fancy Furniture Stencil and Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan to brighten up the faded wood bench. Rather than fading into the woodland area behind it, the now stenciled bench is now a great conversation starter!
For a bit of whimsy and color, add some DIY garden ornaments to your plants! Debbie shows you how to create these cute outdoor accessories by cutting copper and adding pattern details with our Sweet Tweets Lace Bird Stencils. These adorable rustic stenciled birds catch the sun and make us smile!
When Deb Trombley saw a rug with a pattern similar to chicken tracks from a designer rug company, it reminded her of our Chicken Stitch Border Stencil, and inspiration struck. She decided to create her own DIY stenciled door mat on the cheap! The finished doormat adds a cute country farmhouse touch to the entryway, doesn’t it?
Changing out the throw pillows in a space can be one of the easiest – and thriftiest – ways to freshen up your décor for the season. Susan Penning added a couple of custom stenciled pillows to her outdoor seating area. Our Buck Forest and Timberland Bonnie Christine Stencils are perfect for the modern yet rustic look she was going for!
A stenciled mat by the door make a great place to kick off your shoes or rest your prettiest of garden flowers.
