No matter what your decorating style is, you can finish off the look beautifully with Royal Design Studio Stencils. In Natalie of My Vintage Porch’s case, she wanted her laundry room and outdoor porch to complement the rest of her vintage farmhouse style home. In most homes, it’s common to find these two spaces left undecorated and distinct from the rest of the house’s style. However, Natalie took the DIY challenge and used Floor Stencils to carry her vintage farmhouse style into these previously unloved spaces. With a “can-do” DIY spirit and stencil designs, she made each of these spaces unique and amazing!
Natalie started off with her laundry room, an area that was overlooked and made chores uninspiring. Natalie stenciled right over her original floor tiles, using dove white and dark navy paint colors. Natalie says, "I love the old vintage look the Lisboa Tile Stencil gave my floor after I distressed my floors. Royal Design Studio sends detailed instructions of how to use the tile and clean it. The stencil was so easy to use. After each stenciled area is finished you just pick it up and match it up to the edge of the finished stencil on the floor.” She used a hand sander and sandpaper to distress the design, making them look worn and vintage. She then sealed the floor with matte polyurethane for interiors.
She says, “And I could not be happier with the after! I love it so much and it ALMOST makes me want to do laundry, or at least live in this room!" She finished off the look with a DIY sliding barn door, ironing board wall art, and crates.
Now onto the outdoor porch! Natalie bought an inexpensive plain white outdoor rug from Target. This totally beats spending even more money on a designer rug, and allowed her to decorate it with the exact color and pattern she wanted. She used our Silk Road Suzani Stencil with the same dark navy paint she used in the laundry room to stencil the rug. The texture and vintage design of her DIY rug make her porch cozy and inviting. Don’t you just want to hop in one of those swing chairs and sip some lemonade?
