We have been featuring the majestic designs, motifs and colors of India all month long on our Paint + Pattern digital design magazine. Inspired by the art and culture of this magical country, we have been working on adding some beautiful new patterns to our India Stencils Collection.
Classic Indian motifs such as paisleys, delicate floral, elegant trelliswork, and intricate geometric borders have been reinterpreted into new stencil patterns of all shapes and sizes. These are patterns that can blend beautifully into many different decorating schemes and color palettes.
To prove that point, we poured our creative juices into creating some elegant mood boards that feature some of our favorite new stencil patterns. We hope you enjoy them!
The Annapakshi Damask Stencil
Annapakshi is a beautiful Indian mythological bird that is popularly also known as Annam in South of India. Typically, a brass lamp is lit before any important event or venture and an Annapakshi motif is an integral part of the design of these lamps owing to its symbolism for divinity, purity, and beauty.
This wonderful concept immediately struck a chord with us when looking for inspiration for this stencil collection. The result was this stunning stencil design, the Annapakshi Damask Stencil, which is available in three sizes and can be used as a singular stenciled motif or repeated to create an allover pattern.
We tried to explore the look of this stencil in soft shades of blue and green, and matched it with some cool artifacts from your beloved online stores. The outcome - fabulous!
If your style is the exotic global kind, you can get the above look by accessorizing with: Oversized Punched Metal Pendant Lamp from World Market, Flourish Velvet Medallion Pillow from Pier 1, Everett Upholstered, Ikat Chevron Regal Blue Sofa – Prints from West Elm
Jaipur Flower Garden and Kamal Lotus Flower
India is known for the intricate trellis work of its forts and palaces, especially the ones made during the Mughal Empire. Women in those times were not allowed to show their faces to strange men. The intricate trellis work in small windows of forts and palaces enabled them to look outside and keep up with everyday happenings. Our Raj Trellis Indian Wall Stencil lets you bring this old world charm straight to your home in the form of a delicate allover trellis pattern.
Speaking of the Mughal Empire, the lotus flower, also known as ‘Kamal’ in Hindi, has been an integral part of various Mughal styles, as well as other arts and crafts of India. Our Kamal Lotus Flower Indian Furniture Stencil is a tribute to this beautiful creation that is recognized as "Incredible India's" national flower.
If you love both these stencils equally, don’t worry because we have you covered! The Indian Trellis & Lotus Flower Stencil Set combines these two gorgeous patterns that will let you create a wonderful conversational wall in your home.

Rani Paisley Stencil
How could we be talking about India this whole time and not think of Paisley – the most significant of all Indian motifs! Rani means royal queen in Hindi and paisley for some reason invokes a feminine connotation to it. The Rani Paisley Stencil from Royal Design Studio was designed to personify the idea of a royal motif. This stencil has been given a regal look through layers of beautiful floral pattern surrounding a lovely paisley motif in the center.
For a sophisticated and elegant look, we combined: Neutral Embroidered Medallion Pillow from Pier 1, Linen Tufted Devon Slipper Chair from World Market, Gold Leaf Glass Lamp from Pier 1
