When your instinct is to head to your favorite home goods store and drop major bills on its expensive decor, hack it instead with a simple and beautiful DIY project. Watch and learn how to create your own mudcloth fabric and boho pillows with Bohemian Stencils from Royal Design Studio below!
Supplies:
- Mali Mudcloth Furniture Stencil from Royal Design Studio Stencils
- Royal Stencil Brush
- Acrylic Paint
- Fabric Medium
- Spray Adhesive
Step 1: Protect your surface with contractor’s paper. Use spray adhesive to secure the fabric in place. Secure the boho fabric stencil with painter’s tape.
Step 2: Mix 1 part acrylic paint with 2 parts fabric medium. Load a ¾” Royal Stencil Brush with the paint mixture and offload the excess paint onto a paper towel.
Step 3: Stencil the fabric using light to medium pressure. Remove the bohemian stencil from the first repeat and reposition it to the next repeat by aligning the built-in registration marks. Continue to stencil the rest of the fabric.
We used this bohemian fabric to create some colorful DIY throw pillows that look like they are straight from the catalogs of Anthropologie or World Market!
