Stenciling is a fast, easy, and inexpensive way to customize and update any surface in your house with paint, including walls, floors, ceilings, furniture, and fabric. Stenciling is generally done using either stencil brushes or stencil rollers. You can stencil with craft acrylic paints, latex wall paint, or our specially designed Royal Stencil Creme paints. I was looking for the perfect stencil design to bring a little (more) cheer to our sunny kitchen. I knew I wanted a simple design for the center, since it would mostly be hidden by the table, so I was looking for an eye-catching border pattern, which would be the star of the show.
I found inspiration – and instructions to boot – in the Royal Design Studio tutorial, “How to Stencil (A Sisal Rug with Chalk Paint).
I used the Sicilia Tile Craft Stencil and the Gota Embroidery Indian Border, and am so happy with the results. I named my new floorcloth, SunnyBlue!
